Ecological Pyramids
Ecological pyramids are graphical representations of the trophic structure or energy flow within an ecosystem. They describe the relationship between different trophic levels, such as producers (plants), primary consumers (herbivores), secondary consumers (carnivores), and so on. There are three types of ecological pyramids: 1. Pyramid of Numbers: This pyramid represents the number of organisms at each trophic level. It shows a decrease in the number of organisms as you move up the trophic levels due to the energy loss and reduced availability of resources. For example, a pyramid of numbers in a grassland ecosystem might have a large number of grasses at the bottom level, followed by a smaller number of herbivores and an even smaller number of carnivores at higher levels. 2.
