Respiratory System The respiratory system is a complex network of organs, tissues, and structures responsible for the exchange of oxygen and carbon dioxide in our bodies. It plays a vital role in facilitating the process of respiration, which involves taking in oxygen and expelling carbon dioxide. The main organs of the respiratory system include: 1. Nose and Nasal Cavity:  The nose filters, warms, and moistens the air we breathe. The nasal cavity contains small hairs called cilia that trap dust and particles, preventing them from entering further into the respiratory system. 2. Pharynx:  Commonly known as the throat, it serves as a passage for both air and food. It connects the nasal cavity and mouth to the larynx. 3. Larynx:  Also known as the voice box, the larynx houses the vocal cords responsible for producing sound. It also acts as a passageway for air traveling between the pharynx and trachea. 4.
