 The nitrogen cycle is a crucial process that describes the movement and transformation of nitrogen in various forms within ecosystems. It involves the conversion of nitrogen between different chemical forms, with participation from both living organisms and the environment. Here's a simplified overview of the nitrogen cycle: 1. Nitrogen Fixation:  Nitrogen gas (N2) from the atmosphere is converted into ammonia (NH3) or ammonium (NH4+) ions by nitrogen-fixing bacteria found in the soil, plant roots (legumes), or some types of cyanobacteria. These organisms have the unique ability to convert atmospheric nitrogen into a usable form for other living organisms. Example: Rhizobium bacteria found in the root nodules of leguminous plants like peas, beans, and clovers convert nitrogen gas into ammonia, which is utilized by the plant for growth. 2.
